Awards and Medals

Mandate: Provide nominations and vetting for AAG awards and medals, as well as propose new award opportunities.

Education

Mandate: Support the professional development of the next generation of geochemists.

Governance
Chair: John Carranza (ejmcarrnza@gmail.com)

Mandate: Review and revise the Association's 2014 Bylaws outlining functioning procedures and succession planning, review the Code of Ethics, establish a privacy policy, and create a grievance/compliance process. 

Membership and Mentorship

Members: Patrice de Caritat, Pedro Acsota-Góngora
Mandate: Devise services, features, and deliverables for members; facilitate new membership acquisition and retention. Drive membership into younger demographics and expand geographic reach. Organize mentorship opportunities for early career and student members. 

Strategic Plan
Chair: Alexander Seyfarth (Alexander.Seyfarth@sgs.com)
Members: Ray Lett, Behnam Sadeghi, Brian Townley
Mandate: Facilitate the set of goals and stages approved at a special council meeting in January 2026 with input from the Awards and Medals, Education, Governance, Membership and Mentorship, Symposia and Events and Website committees. Each of these committees is to assign at least one member to liaise with the Strategic Plan Committee.

Symposia and Events
Chair: Ryan Noble (Ryan.noble@csiro.au)
Members: Pedro Acsota-Góngora, Aleksandra Mloszewski, Alex Vionot, Bimin Zhang
Mandate: Facilitate proposals and organize the Association's biennial symposium (IAGS) and other events in which the Association is a co-sponsor or participant.

Manadate: Review the numerous pages of the current website and rewrite/remove/update this material to conform to a new structure for a public-facing website and a member website (using SaaS). Add new material generated by the committees (e.g. mandates, Bylaws, etc.) and assign areas for new content, such as videos, podcasts, and lectures. Liaise with the Membership Committee to redesign the membership area. Request proposals from website design companies when these tasks are complete. Review, select, and present a synopsis of the proposals to Council for approval. Work closely with the chosen company to ensure an optimal product (e.g. keywords on critical pages to optimize AI searches; ease of use across platforms and devices, especially for multimedia posts; streamline the interaction between public and members areas).
